Horse racing began to be a public spectacle 2000 years ago in Ancient Greece, being an important leisure activity of wealthy social groups. These races generated great interest from several people who wanted either to have a competition animal or a companion, which contributed to becoming part of the Olympic Games.

In horse racing, there are sports competitions that take place on a hippodrome, and the horses used in these horse races are horses specially bred and selected for this purpose, the most common breeds are: the English thoroughbred horse, the Arabian horse, the American Quarter Horse , “trapasul”, but also other categories of horses.

The horses that are used to participate in these horse races must be healthy, resistant, of a noble breed, showing at the same time allure, lightness, speed and mobility in running.

– The Kentucky Derby: takes place every year on the first Saturday in May at Churchill Downs, Louisville, Kentucky;

– L’Arc de Triumf Award: takes place on the first Sunday of October at the Longchamp Racecourse in Paris, France;

– Breeders Cup Classic: held in late October or early November, each year at a different track;

– Japan Cup: takes place the last week of November at the Fuchu Racecourse (Tokyo);

– Epsom Derby: takes place on the first weekend of June each year at Epsom Downs, Surrey, England;

– Madrid Grand Prix: takes place on the first Sunday of July at the Hipódromo de la Zarzuela in Madrid.

In these races, horses can compete according to categories, distances or obstacles. Depending on these categories, bets can be made, which can reach considerable amounts.
